他回想著1960年代初期在加州的反文化運動and was sympathetic to beat poets and the Communist Party(共產黨)。There is some dispute regarding the latter and Dick later admitted to being literally thrown out of at least one of its rallies.
Lies,Inc.
As the dream repeated, the pile of magazines through which he was searching got smaller and smaller, but he never reached the bottom of it,最後他變得渴望,探索雜?世界讓他狂熱(like the Lovecraftian Necronomicon, promising insanity to its readers)。 他應門接下一份附加的止痛葯,並注意到那位送來這包葯的女人身上戴著一個吊飾with what he called the vesicle pisces.(He probably was referring to the intersecting arcs of the vesica piscis.) 盡管狄克的過去和持續吸食毒品,他接受這些幻覺成為現實,並相信自己曾接觸某種上帝的本質which he referred to variously as Zebra,God,and, most often,VALIS.

Confessions of a Crap Artist。
