天主教（基督教舊教）的聖經可以閱讀英文版的耶路撒冷譯本聖經或英文版的新美國譯本聖經，King James Version（欽定版）的聖經是基督教新教的聖經，閱讀水平至少四級，因為King James Version（欽定版）的聖經有不少英文語言是古英文。

英文聖經也只是翻譯本。而且有很多不同的版本。最容易理解的是New International Version，簡稱NIV版。是用現代英語寫成的，和當前所使用的語言最接近。如果想學英語的話，可以讀這個版本的聖經。

流傳最廣的是King James Version，簡稱KJV版。很多英語詞彙和現在都有出入。但是年紀比較大的老年人喜歡讀這個版本，因為很多押韻，抑揚頓挫，所以讀起來最能體現英語的美感。但是對學英語沒有什麼好處。譬如裡面thee就是現在的you，但是能和其他單詞構成押韻。

新舊約都可以讀，就是舊約比較難懂。新約比較簡單。

20:15 我的東西難道不可隨我的意思用嗎。因為我作好人，你就紅了眼嗎。
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
20:16 這樣，那在後的將要在前，在前的將要在後了。（有古卷在此有因為被召的人多，選上的人少）
