《契訶夫短篇小說選》是『語文新課程標准必讀』系列書中之一，書中精選了俄國最偉大的短篇小說巨匠契訶夫的《套中人》《小公務員之死》《變色龍》《萬卡》《掛在脖子上的安娜》等17代表作。
與其他的書不一樣的地方，這本書多了『書海導航』『導讀』『賞析』『思考』，導讀有利於我們理解書中內容，賞析讓我們學習大作家的筆法，思考使我們提高閱讀分析能力。
為學習大師的筆法，我用記敘文的六大要素：時間、地點、人物、開端、發展、高潮，對照了書中的篇章，我發現每篇的開頭都不相同，有寫景特的，的開門見山的，有寫人物的，有寫感想的……我最真敬佩作者的人物描寫，他善於用一個個細節，一句句的對話把人物刻劃出來後，最後讓人深思。
但我對《契訶夫短篇小說選》有這么一個感覺，好象不適於小學生去閱讀，書中主人翁很少是小孩，書中的內容大多是丑惡、無聊、拍馬、虛榮等反面的故事，很少有理想、愛心、勵志、互助等等正面教育。
也許是看了很多的有正面教育的童書的緣果吧！我總覺這本書不是童書，過早地給天真單純的學生烙下了社會中陰暗的烙印好像不太適合吧？
不過書中的『渴睡』和『萬卡』還是給我留下了很深印象，我喜歡讀它們，因為其主角萬卡和瓦麗卡都是小孩，而且他們都是孤兒，跟我一樣沒有父母在身邊。
讀了萬卡做學徒時寫給爺爺的那封信中的話：「親愛的爺爺，你帶我回家吧！等我長大了，我會報答您，好好地養活您！」我感動地流下了淚，這不是當奶奶重病時我要離開爺爺家全托時，我想說的話嗎？
當我看到瓦麗卡在搖搖籃時做夢時，被主人狠狠打了後腦，擰了耳朵；當我看到瓦麗卡要生爐子、燒茶炊、刷雨鞋、洗台階、收拾房間、生爐火、買東西，一刻也不停地幹活時；當我看她多麼想鑽到雨鞋中躺一下，削土豆時刀子也掉下來時；當我看到天黑了，主人命令她：「瓦麗卡，搖娃娃」時，我流淚了，瓦麗卡啊！你多可憐啊！連睡覺的自由也被剝奪了。
以前我總覺得世界不公平，同學們都有父母在身邊，唯我留守在爺爺家中，對照瓦麗卡，我一天要睡10個小時，真是身在福中不知福啊！
