他回想着1960年代初期在加州的反文化运动and was sympathetic to beat poets and the Communist Party(共产党)。There is some dispute regarding the latter and Dick later admitted to being literally thrown out of at least one of its rallies.
Lies,Inc.
As the dream repeated, the pile of magazines through which he was searching got smaller and smaller, but he never reached the bottom of it,最后他变得渴望,探索杂?世界让他狂热(like the Lovecraftian Necronomicon, promising insanity to its readers)。 他应门接下一份附加的止痛药,并注意到那位送来这包药的女人身上戴着一个吊饰with what he called the vesicle pisces.(He probably was referring to the intersecting arcs of the vesica piscis.) 尽管狄克的过去和持续吸食毒品,他接受这些幻觉成为现实,并相信自己曾接触某种上帝的本质which he referred to variously as Zebra,God,and, most often,VALIS.

Confessions of a Crap Artist。
