天主教（基督教旧教）的圣经可以阅读英文版的耶路撒冷译本圣经或英文版的新美国译本圣经，King James Version（钦定版）的圣经是基督教新教的圣经，阅读水平至少四级，因为King James Version（钦定版）的圣经有不少英文语言是古英文。

英文圣经也只是翻译本。而且有很多不同的版本。最容易理解的是New International Version，简称NIV版。是用现代英语写成的，和当前所使用的语言最接近。如果想学英语的话，可以读这个版本的圣经。

流传最广的是King James Version，简称KJV版。很多英语词汇和现在都有出入。但是年纪比较大的老年人喜欢读这个版本，因为很多押韵，抑扬顿挫，所以读起来最能体现英语的美感。但是对学英语没有什么好处。譬如里面thee就是现在的you，但是能和其他单词构成押韵。

新旧约都可以读，就是旧约比较难懂。新约比较简单。

20:14 拿你的走吧。我给那后来的和给你一样，这是我愿意的。
Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
20:15 我的东西难道不可随我的意思用吗。因为我作好人，你就红了眼吗。
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
20:16 这样，那在后的将要在前，在前的将要在后了。（有古卷在此有因为被召的人多，选上的人少）
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
